THE PROJECT
A graduation film made by a team of six at Supinfocom Rubika. A young tailor joins a prestigious
haute couture house where his colleagues are animals: an ant whose many legs sew at astonishing
speed, and an elephant heading the workshop, whose trunk works wonders. Eaten up by
comparison, he builds himself ant legs, then an elephant trunk, before inventing, in one last surge, a
monstrous suit combining every animal attribute to become the ultimate tailor. Each attempt ends in
disaster. In the end, it is by staying true to himself that he sews an extraordinary dress.

MY ROLE
I served as lead character modeler and rigger on the film. I modeled and sculpted the main character
as well as the monstrous suit he invents in the final act, and built the rigs for both. The suit, a
ramshackle assembly of animal attributes designed to collapse on screen, called for a rig capable of
carrying that mechanism. I also set up a full facial rig, a controller system paired with blendshapes.
The real challenge lay in the film's register: achieving extreme cartoon expressions, which led me to
rework the face's topology several times so the mesh could withstand such deformation without
breaking. Beyond that, I modeled several set elements and props, rigging some of them. I also
handled the lighting and compositing of a number of shots, along with the rendering of nearly the
entire film. Modeling, rigging and lighting were done in Maya, sculpting in ZBrush, rendering in
Arnold and compositing in Nuke. This graduation project reflects my character modeling work for animation well, in the same vein as what I did on Plantage Cosmique, another Supinfocom Rubika short film.
