THE PROJECT
A character brought into 3D from a concept by Morgan Howell, originally drawn for the cover of
Void, an album by electronic artist Savant. A mechanical knight in gold and violet armour, entirely
metal, bristling with gears and circular motifs. A personal project carried out end to end, born of an
affinity with Savant's world and the wish to extend this design into 3D.

MY ROLE
I handled the entire 3D production of the character, from sculpt to final compositing. As the original
concept showed a single angle, much of the work meant inventing everything the image does not
show, the back, the profiles, the underside of the armour, while staying faithful to the logic of the
design and its mechanical coherence. I set myself a texturing constraint: to hand-paint every texture,
shadows and highlights included, using the technique seen on the series Arcane, not to imitate its
style but to achieve that painted look where lighting is partly baked into the texture itself. Sculpting
in ZBrush, modelling and retopology in Maya, texturing in Substance Painter, rendering in Arnold,
final compositing in Nuke.
