THE PROJECT
A commercial for PlayStation Now, PlayStation's on-demand gaming service. The film stages a
spectacular collision of worlds: characters, vehicles, and creatures from the catalogue's biggest
games tumble together through the sky, leaping from one universe to the next, from the GTA V heist
to the wastelands of Fallout 4, from God of War to Uncharted 4. A striking way to embody the
platform's promise: hundreds of games brought together, all in one place.
MY ROLE
I handled the rigging of four assets in the film, all in Maya. The most demanding was Liberty
Prime, the giant robot from Fallout 4: its mechanical nature called for a rig faithful to its anatomy,
joints, rigid segments, moving parts, while staying flexible enough to give animators the freedom to
bring it to life. I also took on Nathan Drake's grappling hook (Uncharted): a rig built for fluid
animation of the rope, with an IK/FK system where the hook's head drives the rest of the rig for
more realistic motion. I rigged the mammoth as well, a quadruped creature setup handling the
animal's weight and locomotion convincingly. Finally, I built the rig for Atreus, Kratos's son in God
of War: a classic biped rig, sturdy and clean, ready for animation. Four distinct rigging approaches that reflect my character work for advertising, continuing what I'd done on Sky Q UHD with the savanna elephants.
