THE PROJECT

A touring exhibition designed for Bpifrance to introduce young audiences to careers in

manufacturing, produced as part of Le Tour de France de nos industries, an initiative led by La

French Fab and Avec l'Industrie®, the cross-sector brand of OPCO 2i. The brief called for a fully

demountable, transportable structure that could travel from city to city, with one demanding

requirement: it had to be able to stand inside a working factory. Visitors discover industrial careers

within an industrial setting rather than a neutral exhibition hall.

The layout is organised into six themed zones: a careers discovery stand with touchscreens and

hosts, a virtual reality experience, a hands-on construction workshop, a lounge and refreshment

area, a conference space and a media area for interviews.

MY ROLE

I designed and produced the 3D concepts for all six zones, each rendered from several viewpoints

and supported by wide establishing shots, including a top-down plan view, so the client could read

visitor flow across the entire layout. The work covered two fronts: designing a convincing modular

architecture of freestanding partitions, gateways, raised decks and lightweight furniture that could

be struck and rebuilt at every stop without losing visual impact, and building the fictional factory

that houses it from the ground up, complete with steel roof structure, shipping containers and

machinery. The challenge was calibrating that setting: distinctive enough to convey the industrial

context the client wanted, restrained enough never to overpower the stands themselves. Modelling,

lighting and rendering were done in Blender, with colour grading and compositing in Photoshop.
